Stacey Johnson's Bio

I grew up in Duluth, Minnesota along the North Shore of Lake Superior.  I love the water and have always taken inspiration from the beach rocks, the warm neutral sands and the cool waves rolling in.  I was fortunate in 2003 to be able to travel to Nelson, New Zealand for five months.  My flat was atop an unusually steep hill and at the base of it one side was an ice cream shop and on the other a bead store.   I would often stop for ice cream to delay the walk up the hill at the end of a long work day, but when I could no longer fit into my jeans I turned toward the bead store instead.  My the love for making jewelry was born.  I started making and selling it to travelers at the local Saturday market and on a corner kiosk in town.  Today, eight years later, I continue wake up excited to make jewelry every morning.

I believe it’s the accessories that make the outfit and that jewelry is an expression of  your inner being.  I take pride using quality materials so those who purchase my designs will be proud to wear them.  Making women look and feel fabulous is what I truly love to do.

The Mission

The balance between earth and sea.  The iridescent pearls from the water bring inspiration to the soul, while the tones in gemstones and precious metals bring calmness to the body.  Together they create jewelry that is simple and elegant all in one.

The Team

Without them I am nothing.  They work hard.  They bring smiles to my face.  They are the true gems of this business.

the multiplier

Crystal Meisinger is my right hand woman.  She takes the designs and duplicates them so we can make enough to supply our stores.   She is precise and has a knack for attending to the details.   She is also an accomplished  performance and installation artist and a painter.

the muscle

My dear husband is the heavy lifter.  He comes with me to shows and helps assemble the booth.  He is also the logistics guy who makes sure your jewelry  is packed and shipped with love.

the mom

Yes, she is really my mom…and where I get my flair for aesthetics.  She is a great photographer and makes sure every detail is captured in the photos of the jewels.  She also helps with booth and display design…and is SJ Jewelry’s biggest fan.

This site is dedicated to my wonderful father. He helped me build this business, he spent endless days out in the garage making jewelry stands and displays, and he told me countless times that I could do anything that I put my mind to. Thanks Dad. We will carry you in our hearts always.
